Synopsis

Maddox:

The reason I rarely go home is three simple words: I’m a liar.

When the pressure to marry my childhood sweetheart became too much, I told her I was gay and then fled to New York like my ass was on fire.

Now, five years later and after a drunken encounter, I find myself invited to her wedding. And I have to bring my boyfriend—the boyfriend who doesn’t exist because I’m straight.

At least, I think I am. Meeting the guy I’m bribing to be my boyfriend for the weekend makes me question everything about myself.

Damon:

When my sister asks me to pretend to be some straight guy’s boyfriend, my automatic response is to say no. It’s because of guys like him people don’t believe me when I tell them I’m gay.

But Maddox has something I need.

After an injury that cost me my baseball career, I’m trying to leave my playing days behind and focus on being the best sports agent I can be. Forty-eight hours with my sister’s best friend in exchange for a meeting with a possible client. I can do this.

I just wish he wasn’t so hot. Or that he didn’t kiss like he means it.

Wait … why is the straight guy kissing me?

*Fake Out is a full-length MM novel with a HEA/HFN and no cliffhanger.*

Review

Delicious absurd situations pass by one by one in this and it's funny and refreshing.
Maddox needs a fake boyfriend, he wants to be present at his ex-girlfriend's wedding.
It’s complicated ... to break up the relationship with the ex, he said he was gay and flew away...
Now he needs a 'boyfriend' Luckily Stacy, his best friend, has a gay brother who will go with him.
Put two totally different guys together, they become friends, one very open to everything and one somewhat closed.
Both guys have issues from their pasts and these facts are awesomely woven into this story.
It has a lot to do with commitments... but there is much more!
“I can’t help it. I’m five years old.”
 “Clearly.”
What I loved about this story was the personal development, the growth, the recognition of each other's hurt and needs, when they 'get it'. That was emotional to watch. Really well done, you could feel it on the pages...I leaked emotional tears.
A beautifully written story with very engaging lovely personalities, it had a lot of diverse feelings in it. Both Maddox and Damon were clearly described, their characters never faltered.
Their jobs, friends, family, and living environments.... it was all entertaining with useful and necessary content.
It was so funny, I just love some good humor lines! The serious side was also well done, all the feelings... I felt them.

In short… a good story, a must-read!
